2026 Topps Chrome Update Baseball Reportedly Has Under 200 Debut Patches

2026 Topps Chrome Update Baseball will reportedly have fewer than 200 rookie debut patches, the first time the count has dropped below that mark since the patches began in 2023. Earlier totals were 91 in 2023, 251 in 2024 and a record 270 in 2025. Jacob Misiorowski's patch is described as the top chase, and pre-orders reportedly opened ahead of a Dec. 9 release day. The Miami Marlins and Chicago White Sox each have a league-leading 13 rookie debut patches in the set, while the Chicago Cubs have the fewest with two. Rookie debut patches are one-of-one cards combining a player's autograph with the patch worn during his first Major League Baseball game. Paul Skenes' 2024 rookie debut patch sold for $1.11 million last year, the benchmark for the most valuable debut patch, and the most expensive 2025 patch was Nick Kurtz's of the Athletics at $516,000. Debut patches are included for Kevin McGonigle, Sal Stewart and Cam Schlittler, along with Munetaka Murakami, Parker Messick, Chase DeLauter, Travis Bazzana, Roman Anthony, Nolan McLean, Konnor Griffin, Jac Caglianone, Kazuma Okamoto, Trey Yesavage, Carson Benge, JJ Wetherholt and Bryce Eldridge. Autograph options include returning Radiating Rookies, Autumn Ascensions, Lava Lamp and 1991 Topps Chrome autographs, among others. Triple autographs are included for most teams, plus a special triple auto of Roger Clemens, Nolan Ryan and Paul Skenes. Dual autographs include Justin Crawford and Carl Crawford, Ichiro and Munetaka Murakami, Pete Alonso and Cal Ripken Jr., Mason Miller and Trevor Hoffman, JJ Wetherholt and Albert Pujols, and Mike Trout and Nolan Ryan. Limited inserts include Mickey and Friends, Major League Minis and Alter Ego Super Heroes, which debuted last year as a 10-card chase. A new retail-exclusive Glass Canvas insert has 20 past and present players, including six top rookies, and a new 30-card insert, Diamond Impact, mixes top rookies and veterans.
