hololive OCG English Edition Gets Its Own Exstreamer Cup 26-27 Season
English Edition players of the hololive OFFICIAL CARD GAME finally get a competitive ladder of their own: the Exstreamer Cup 26-27 (English Edition) Season starts next year, with its own Qualifiers and World Grand Prix. Producer Horie Reki laid out the plan in a letter written specifically for English Edition players, apart from the Japanese Edition's letter.
The letter also confirms a joint World Championship for both editions. It was first announced on October 12, during the broadcast of the Japanese Edition's "Exstreamer Cup 25-26 Final".
Exstreamer Cup 26-27 English Edition Qualifiers and World Grand Prix
Six venues are planned for the English Edition Qualifiers and World Grand Prix.
Horie is candid that six venues will not fully remove the distance barrier that has kept English Edition players from a season on the scale of the Japanese one. The letter calls it a first step.
TCGKing's take: a first step is an honest label. Six venues is a real structure, but with no cities or dates given, players cannot yet plan travel around it.
Bloom Cup DX 26 Final Challenge Recap
The letter looks back at the Bloom Cup DX 26 Final Challenge, held in Akihabara, Tokyo, on October 11 and 12.
- 89 players earned their spots and traveled to Akihabara.
- The October 12 games were live streamed, the first time a tournament was streamed for the English Edition.
hololive OCG World Championship: One Stage, Both Editions
At the World Championship, Japanese Edition and English Edition players will compete on the same stage in the same venue.
The two editions will grow closer in both product lineup and competitive season. The English Edition will not become a copy of the Japanese one, though.
For casual tournaments and side events, the team says it will keep working with the talents on events suited to English Edition players and their circumstances. holoca will also keep championing "Comp-Creation": competing alongside friends and co-creating with everyone.
What is still unknown
- Dates and the six venue locations for the English Edition Qualifiers and World Grand Prix are not given in the announcement.
- The date, location, format and qualification rules for the World Championship are not given in the announcement.
