Pokémon MEGA Promo Card Pack Vol. 6 Hits Japan Gyms November 1
Each 1-card pack holds one of 7 cards, including Mega Heatran and Lebanne, and goes to Pokémon Card Gym players in Japan from Sunday November 1.
Promo Card Pack Vol. 6 for the Pokémon Trading Card Game MEGA series begins distribution on Sunday November 1 at Pokémon Card Gyms nationwide in Japan. Each pack contains a single card, and the lineup includes Mega Heatran, a Lebanne Supporter, and new-illustration versions of Golett and Gastly.
What is in the pack
Vol. 6 exists only as 1-card packs. Each one holds 1 card chosen at random from 7 different cards: Mega Heatran, Lebanne, Golett, Gastly, Hariyama, Energy Recycler, and Gywnn.
Golett and Gastly appear with new illustrations. A different Golett illustration is in the expansion pack Storm Emeralda, and a different Gastly illustration is in the expansion pack Munikisu Zero.
Hariyama, Energy Recycler, and Gywnn are reprints of cards that have been used in official tournaments.
The Mega Heatran card
Mega Heatran has the Ability Thick Armor. While it is at full HP, with no damage counters on it, it takes 60 less damage from attacks by the opponent's Pokémon.
Its attack, Gigantic Press, costs MMM and has a base damage of 140. During your next turn, Gigantic Press does 140 more damage, so using it on consecutive turns lets Mega Heatran deal 280 damage.
The card's name is a point of difference between outlets. PokeGuardian lists it as Mega Heatran ex, but the publisher's own listing calls it Mega Heatran and does not mention "ex." Whether the card carries the ex designation is not confirmed.
Lebanne
Lebanne is a Supporter that involves a coin flip and can heal the user's Active Pokémon for up to 150 HP. One report describes the effect as 150 damage healed on heads and 30 damage healed on tails instead. Treat that detail as reported rather than confirmed.
How to get the pack
Promo Card Packs go to players who take part in, or win, Gym Battles and similar events at Pokémon Card Gyms in Japan. PokeGuardian says the cards will be available at participating Pokémon Card Gym stores.
Prizes by event:
- Gym Battle winner: 1 Promo Card Pack Vol. 6 (1 card).
- Gym Battle participation: during this period, the "30th Promo Card Pack" is given as 1 pack in place of a Vol. 6 pack.
- Rock-paper-scissors tournament winner at a Gym Battle: 1 Promo Card Pack Vol. 6 (1 card). The tournament is held only with 9 or more participants.
- "Deck-as-is Battle" event: participation earns 1 Promo Card Pack Vol. 6 (1 card), and participants also receive the promo card Eevee.
Prizes are limited in quantity and end when stock runs out. They may also change without notice.
Why it matters
Because Vol. 6 exists only as a 1-card pack and is tied to event prizes, getting a specific card depends on attending Gym events and on the random draw. The lineup mixes a Mega Heatran, a healing Supporter, and three reprints that have seen official tournament use.
What is still unknown
The end date of the distribution period is not announced. The rarity of each card and the odds of pulling each of the 7 cards are not announced either.
Whether and when these cards will be distributed outside Japan is also not announced.
