TCG briefs for October 27, 2026

The Federation Fleet is a Jeskai (white, blue, red) Star Trek Commander precon for Magic: The Gathering, according to a TheGamer deck guide. It is led by Jean-Luc Picard, Luminary, and its plan is to draw cards, put +1/+1 counters on creatures and charge up Spacecraft.

Every detail below comes from that single guide. TCGKing has not found an official publisher source that confirms the list, so treat all of it as reported.

Jean-Luc Picard, Luminary is a four-mana (1U, 1R, 1W, 1C) 2/4 creature.

He draws you a card whenever a historic permanent with mana value three or greater enters under your control. Artifacts, legendaries and sagas all count as historic.

Draftsim has published an analysis of Kira Nerys, Firebrand, a card from the Magic: The Gathering Star Trek set, a Universes Beyond product, that can be played as a Commander. The author predicts it will be among the most powerful and widely played Commander cards from the set.

The card's effect is the core of the analysis: creatures you control that enter the battlefield while you are attacking during combat enter tapped and attacking.

Draftsim points out that creatures entering after blockers are declared cannot be blocked, because they arrive already attacking.

It also notes a flicker trick: flickering a blocked creature, for example with Restoration Angel, returns it tapped, attacking and unblocked.

A community deck guide for Magic: The Gathering builds a Jeskai (white-blue-red) Commander deck around Vraska, Soul of Stone, a commander from the Reality Fracture set (FRA). The list is aimed at Brackets 2 and 3.

Everything below is reported by a single community guide. No official Wizards of the Coast source backs it up, so treat the details as reported rather than confirmed.

Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, Vraska makes a unique Sculpture Treasure artifact creature token. She also gives all your artifact creatures vigilance.

According to the guide, the deck sits around Brackets 2 and 3. It has no combos and no Game Changers, and it plays grindier than is typical for Bracket 3.

TheGamer updated its ranking of the best Esper (White/Blue/Black) Commanders in Magic: The Gathering on October 27, 2026, and the entries 26 to 17 are now visible. The report is a press ranking, not a Wizards of the Coast announcement.

The previous update of the list came more than 18 months earlier.

The most popular Esper Commander currently sits at the top of EDHREC, according to TheGamer.

The card details reported for the visible entries:

• Nevinyrral, Urborg Tyrant: six-mana Zombie Wizard with hexproof from artifacts, creatures and enchantments. It makes a 2/2 Zombie for each creature that died that turn, and when it dies, one mana destroys all artifacts, creatures and enchantments.
• Sefris of the Hidden Ways: a 2/3 for three mana that ventures into the dungeon the first time each turn a creature goes to a graveyard. Completing a dungeon returns a creature from your graveyard to the battlefield. Venture debuted in Adventures in the Forgotten Realms.
• Merieke Ri Berit: a 1/1 Human for three mana, originally printed in Ice Age. Tapping it steals a creature while that creature stays tapped. If Merieke untaps or leaves, the stolen creature is destroyed.
• Yennett, Cryptic Sovereign: a six-mana 3/5 Sphinx with flying, vigilance and menace. On attack, you reveal the top card: an odd mana value can be cast free, otherwise it goes to hand.

Draftsim has put out a Bracket 3 Commander guide for Teval, the Balanced Scale, the Sultai commander from Tarkir: Dragonstorm. Its list is a graveyard deck that revolves around "gravebreak," meaning you make cards leave your graveyard so your permanents can trigger positive effects.

According to Draftsim, Teval reached the top ten most popular commanders on EDHREC within a year of release. Everything below comes from that single community guide, not from an official publisher source.

Draftsim's card counts for the list are:

• 1 Commander
• 23 Creatures
• 15 Instants
• 10 Sorceries
• 9 Enchantments
• 4 Artifacts
• 38 Lands

When Teval attacks, the trigger puts cards into the graveyard, usually takes one back out, and creates Zombie Druid tokens. Nothing limits it to once per turn, so you can end up with several Zombies in a single turn.

Wizards of the Coast is reportedly reprinting the Warhammer 40,000 Commander precons, according to a Draftsim upgrade guide. The guide covers Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond: Warhammer 40,000 Commander Deck – Necron Dynasties, and suggests swapping the commander to Anrakyr the Traveller.

The product is a 100-card, ready-to-play black deck. It has 2 legendary traditional foil cards and 98 nonfoil cards.

Every card carries Warhammer-themed art, including 42 cards that are new to Magic.

The box also includes:

• 1 foil-etched Display Commander
• 10 double-sided tokens
• 1 life tracker
• 1 deck box

The Amazon listing shown in the guide gives a price of $399.95.

A Star Trek Arena Direct draft event is reportedly coming to MTG Arena, running from November 13 to November 22. Entry costs 8,000 gems, and players who reach seven wins before three losses win a Magic: The Gathering Star Trek Collector Booster Box. The details are reported, not yet confirmed by Wizards of the Coast.

The event may close early if all available stock is won.

Arena Direct events typically start at 1 pm PT (4 pm ET, 9 pm GMT, 10 pm CET). Sign-ups end at 8 am PT (11 am ET, 4 pm GMT, 5 pm CET) on the event dates.

After sign-ups close, players get a three-hour window to finish their draft and all their games.

The entry fee rises to 8,000 gems, up from 6,000 gems for the Reality Fracture event.

The Magic: The Gathering Warhammer 40K Commander precon decks are reportedly being reprinted, but only for the US market. According to IGN Germany, the reprint run is restricted to that region, and a German retailer says the decks will not return to Europe.

The German retailer The Attic attended Spiel Essen and posted a message on Discord about the decks. The shop said they will not come back to Europe and that only America will see a re-release, adding that this was communicated officially during the event.

A machine translation of the same message adds that the shop's wholesalers told it the reprint is intended only for America and will not come to Europe.

A Standard Simic (green-blue) deck built around Ghalta, Primal Hunger is the subject of a deck presentation. The list is green first with blue added, and it is aimed at players who like huge creatures. It also plays Savage Compulsion from Reality Fracture.

Ghalta is a green Dinosaur with 12/12 trample and mana value 12. Its cost drops by generic mana equal to the total power of creatures you control, so it can be cast for just two green mana if things go well.

The deck's second theme is creatures with power 4 or greater. Wilderness Pioneer adds 1 mana when it enters and draws a card when another creature with power 4 or greater enters.

A list built on Card Ladder data reportedly names the top recorded sale for each Topps Holiday baseball set from 2016 to 2022. The highest price among those years is $10,980, paid for a 2018 Shohei Ohtani rookie autograph numbered 5/5. Topps has not confirmed any of these figures, so treat them as reported.

Topps issued its first Holiday baseball set in 2016. The line has since reached other sports, after Fanatics acquired the license to print those cards.

Holidays sets are known for hidden elves, image variations and short prints. Mega boxes hold plenty of cards at a low cost.
