TCG briefs for October 26, 2026

Beadle & Grimm's is reportedly preparing the Magic: The Gathering - Star Trek Token Set, with retail scheduled for November 6, 2026 at a price of $45.

Everything below comes from a single report, so treat it as reported rather than confirmed.

The core of the product is a batch of all-new aluminum tokens, made for the Magic: The Gathering - Star Trek set.

According to the report, seven token types are included:

• Borg
• Illusion
• Klingon Warrior
• New Planet
• Officer
• Porthos
• Romulan

The tokens are not the only metal pieces. According to the report, the set also comes with these counters:

• A U.S.S. Enterprise metal life counter
• 5 +1/+1 metal counters designed as various Star Trek ships
• 4 Borg-styled D6 counters

Community site Draftsim has put together a ranking of Magic: The Gathering's best enchantment lands, with Urza's Saga in first place. Valgavoth's Lair sits at number two, while the playtest card Enchanted Prairie rounds out the podium. The article is a community opinion piece, not a Wizards of the Coast announcement.

The list is short because, according to Draftsim, only two enchantment lands exist in Magic's history, plus one playtest card.

Enchantment lands are both enchantments and lands. Besides producing mana, they work with cards that care about enchantments.

• #1 Urza's Saga: produces mana, creates a Construct token whose size grows with the number of artifacts you control, and can search out inexpensive artifacts like Lavaspur Boots and Skullclamp.
• #2 Valgavoth's Lair: carries hexproof, comes into play tapped, and on entering lets you pick any color of mana.
• #3 Enchanted Prairie: a playtest card marked as an enchantment land; it enters tapped and can tap for either white or blue mana.

Draftsim has published a community ranking of franchises it considers good fits for future Magic: The Gathering Universes Beyond collaborations. The list is the author's opinion, not an announcement.

The excerpt covers #11 to #2, and the #1 pick is cut off.

The visible part of the list reads as follows:

• #11: Genshin Impact
• #10: Dragonball
• #9: Demon Slayer
• #8: Cthulhu Mythos / Lovecraft
• #7: A Song of Ice and Fire / Game of Thrones
• #6: Star Trek
• #5: Marvel Universe
• #4: Diablo
• #3: Starcraft
• #2: Elder Scrolls

An editor's note on the Star Trek entry says the article was written before Star Trek was announced as a Universes Beyond set for 2026.

Draftsim, a community site, has published The 29 Best Plains Arts in Magic, a ranking of basic land artwork for Magic: The Gathering, last updated October 26, 2026. The available portion covers ranks #29 to #15. This is a community opinion piece, not an official Wizards of the Coast list.

The author says Secret Lairs and full-art basics rate pretty highly. The reasoning is that they can go beyond the photo-realism that dominates most modern Magic art.

The Draftsim article opens with a Plains illustrated by Magali Villeneuve and shows another illustrated by Volkan Baga.

The lower half of the visible list, from the bottom up:

• #29: Outlaws of Thunder Junction #278, by Adam Paquette, with towering tumbleweeds and a distant train.
• #28: Commander 2016 #339, by Kev Walker, with a fallen statue head among the hills.
• #27: Avatar: The Last Airbender #0287, by Salvatorre Zee Yazzie, showing fields below Appa.
• #26: Innistrad: Midnight Hunt #268, by Alayna Danner, in black and white with a scarecrow of twisted branches.
• #25: Dragons of Tarkir #252, by Florian de Gesincourt, a desolate plain.
• #24: Edge of Eternities #367, by Adam Paquette, with a bulbous planet, an arching spaceship, and rings in the sky.
• #23: Zendikar Rising #266, by Sam Burley, with rings resembling a broken skyclave.
• #22: Dominaria #253, by Mark Poole, with an overgrown arch and standing stones.
• #21: Shards of Alara #230, by Zoltan Boros & Gabor Szikszai, a clearing in Naya's jungle.
• #20: The Hobbit #194, by WFlemming Illustration, showing the Shire with Bilbo and the dwarves marching.

According to reports, Magic: The Gathering is about to stop treating meld cards as double-faced cards. The change shows up in the rules bulletin for Mystery Booster Commander Edition and undoes a ruling made in 2023, according to reports.

In the Comprehensive Rules, meld cards will get a category of their own rather than sitting beneath double-faced cards as a subcategory.

Melding itself works exactly as before. The only cards touched are those that interact with double-faced cards.

Magic currently has seven meld pairs, each combining two cards into one meld card.

When Eldritch Moon introduced meld in 2016, meld cards were not considered double-faced cards.

Polymorph, the very old blue spell from Magic: The Gathering, has reportedly seen a sharp price spike. According to a community report, good quality copies have gone from about $1.30 to nine or ten bucks over the past week.

The jump is attributed to Multiverse Reforged, the new Commander precon from Reality Fracture, whose strategy is built around turning tiny tokens into gigantic creatures. This is a reported market movement, not a publisher announcement, so treat the exact figures as unconfirmed.

According to the same report, every version of Polymorph on TCGPlayer now sells for about the same price in near mint condition.

The printings did not rise at the same pace. Some versions moved faster than others before prices converged.

The official MTG Japan column 'Iwa SHOW's Daily Deck' has profiled a Standard Izzet (blue-red) deck called the Ironheart Combo, built around Ironheart, Brilliant Hero and Armor Wars.

The list is a Standard archetype described as new to Standard. It does not use any new cards from Reality Fracture.

Ironheart is a 5-mana 3/4 flying artifact creature with improvise, so it can tap artifacts instead of paying mana. It also gives improvise to noncreature spells, which lets later spells be cast while largely ignoring mana cost.

The damage engine runs through Weapons Manufacturing, an enchantment that creates an Ammunition token whenever a nontoken artifact enters the battlefield. When an Ammunition token leaves the battlefield, it deals 2 damage to a target.

According to community and press reports, Alexander (Alex) von Stange won Magic Spotlight: Fracture at SCG CON Hartford with Jund Sacrifice in the Standard format. He reportedly defeated Connor Ott, the No. 1 seed on Jeskai Artifacts, in the finals.

Von Stange reportedly received $10,000 and a Black Lotus trophy for the win. No official publisher source was among the evidence, so every detail below is reported rather than confirmed.

Star City Games' own results roundup confirms that von Stange won Magic Spotlight: Fracture with Jund Sacrifice on Sunday and lists his main deck and sideboard as above. It calls Hartford the final SCG CON of the year.

2026 Topps Chrome Sapphire Star Wars is reportedly headed for an October 28, 2026 release, with Topps presales expected to open the same day. Nothing here is confirmed by Topps; the date and details are reported only.

The product is described as an online-exclusive Sapphire Edition. It is expected to apply the Sapphire treatment to select base cards and autographs from 2026 Topps Chrome Star Wars.

The reported hobby configuration is:

• 4 cards per pack
• 8 packs per box
• 10 boxes per case

Each hobby box is expected to hold 4 parallels.

No 2026 price has been given. Last year's boxes started at $249.99.

Riftbound: League of Legends Trading Card Game is rebuilding its Premier Play circuit for 2027 around rank points (LP), ranks, two leaderboards, a Grandmaster title for the top 50, and a token system. Four Continentals are scheduled, starting with Continental Legacy on March 26–28, 2027 in Dallas.

The system replaces the 2026 path, in which Summoner Skirmish winners received a bye in Regional Qualifiers. The top 64 at a Qualifier advanced to Regional Championships, and the top 8 there reached the 2026 World Championship Showcase.

Players earn LP at competitive events according to finishing position. Accumulated LP determines a player's rank standing.

These results are reported by a single community source. No official Riot Games source confirms them, so treat every placement below as unverified.

Here are the notable finishes reported so far:

• Diana won the Melbourne Showdown 2026.
• Riven won multiple tournaments over the weekend.
• Viktor finished second in the Riftbound Showdown 25k - LDXP Sacramento Swiss Rounds.
• Akali reached the finals of the Riftbound Showdown 25k - LDXP Sacramento.
