CGC Discord Community Opens to Collectors: Free, With AMAs Planned
CGC now has an official Discord community, and it is free for any collector with a Discord account. The server covers trading card games, non-sports cards, comics, and autographs, so collectors across those areas have a shared place to gather.
CGC Discord: What Members Get
The community offers live chats with fellow collectors and fans, plus giveaways and contests.
Upcoming activities will include Ask Me Anything (AMA) chats. Who will answer the questions and when the sessions will run are not given in the announcement.
How to Join the CGC Discord
- Cost: free and open to all collectors
- Requirement: a Discord account
- Participation: join the discussion or simply read along (lurk) until you feel ready to take part
TCGKing's take: the lurk-first option matters more than it sounds. You can watch how the community runs, and see whether the AMAs and giveaways deliver, before typing a word.
Where This Fits in CGC's Collector Outreach
CGC began with comic book grading in 2000 and now certifies TCGs, sports cards, magazines, video games, and home media. Autograph services run under CGC Signature Series and JSA Authentic Autograph.
CGC belongs to the Certified Collectibles Group, which since 1987 has certified more than 110 million collectibles.
The Discord arrives alongside other recent CGC news. Recent coverage includes Front Row Card Show Orlando submissions and the Keith Williams Private Signing.
What is still unknown
- Dates for the AMA chats
- Prizes for the giveaways and contests
- Moderation rules and channel structure
