TCG briefs for October 30, 2026

The Pokémon TCG: Valentine's Box, reportedly the game's first dedicated Valentine's Day release, comes with 20 booster packs and a box that turns into a mailbox. It is set for January 15, 2027 at an MSRP of $14.99 USD, with a US launch.

Nothing here is confirmed by a publisher statement yet; the details are reported, so treat them accordingly.

The box holds these items:

• 20 Collect & Share Booster Packs
• 2 sheets of To/From label stickers, filled out and stuck on each pack
• A mailbox for receiving Valentine gifts, which is the box itself
• 3 sheets of Pokémon stickers for decorating the mailbox

The MSRP is $14.99 USD, and the US launch date is January 15, 2027.

The Pokémon Company has confirmed Pokémon Trading Card Game Scramble Battle Kagawa for December 26–27, 2026, and it costs nothing to enter. The catch is a lottery: only winners get into the main event, so a free ticket is not a guaranteed one.

This is a Japan event, held at Sunmesse Kagawa, 2217-1 Hayashi-cho, Takamatsu, Kagawa Prefecture. No event outside Japan is announced yet.

The weekend is split into two separate events, each with its own entry style:

• Saturday, December 26, 2026: Scramble Battle Kagawa (Solo Battle), with players entering individually.
• Sunday, December 27, 2026: Scramble Battle Kagawa (Trio Battle), with players entering in teams of 3.

The City League 2027 Season 2 in Japan is open for entries on the Trainers Website from October 30, 2026, and there is no walk-in registration at the venue, so anyone planning to play at a Pokémon Card Game gym has to register online first.

The season starts with an advance lottery, followed by a first-come round for leftover seats:

• Advance lottery entries: Friday October 30, 2026, 14:00 to Monday November 9, 2026, 12:00
• Lottery results: Thursday November 19, 2026
• Additional first-come entry: Wednesday November 25, 2026 at 18:00, for events with vacancies or newly held events

In the lottery you can enter as many dates as you like, with no upper limit, but you can win only one. Each player may take part in only one date.

Junior players who missed the lottery for Champions League 2027 Chiba get a second shot: additional entries open Friday October 30, 2026, 18:00 and close Friday November 13, 2026, 17:00, with seats going to whoever applies first.

Applications go through the Pokémon Trading Card Game Players Club. Once a league reaches capacity, entry for it closes.

A full league is not necessarily final, though. If a seat opens up in an event's capacity, recruitment on the Players Club reopens automatically.

Two groups are shut out of the additional round:

• People who already won a place in this event through the lottery.
• People found to have submitted multiple entries per person in the lottery, which the event's notes prohibit.

Players are reportedly debating whether Universes Beyond is crowding out original Magic sets, after 2026 became the first year with fewer such sets than the year before: nine, against thirteen. Of seven standard sets in 2026, four were Universes Beyond, and some players now also worry the crossover sets cannibalize one another. Marvel's fourth Magic set, Darkhold Destiny, is announced for 2027 and is described as bringing a completely original story to Magic, with Marvel's creative teams more deeply involved than in earlier crossovers. Marvel currently has three sets in the game.

Universes Beyond was officially established in 2021. Four sets were released in 2022 and eight in 2023. Early sets focused on tabletop series such as Dungeons & Dragons and Warhammer, and Fortnite has since become a crossover as well. The Final Fantasy set released in 2025, and Universes Beyond sets were made legal in competitive formats. The most recent set brought Star Trek to Magic for the first time and drew heavy criticism.

A guide credits Mistakken with an Amulet Titan list for Modern, built around Amulet of Vigor and Primeval Titan, and the guide says it can land Titan as early as turn 2. The main deck lists 59 cards, including 3 Primeval Titan, 4 Amulet of Vigor, 4 Scapeshift and 32 lands, plus a 15-card sideboard. The guide says the deck pairs ramp with toolbox-style land packages and intricate sequencing. Its main plan is for Amulet of Vigor to untap bounce lands such as Simic Growth Chamber and Gruul Turf, accelerating mana into a quick Primeval Titan, whose land fetches then ramp or set up the win. Titan can fetch Hanweir Battlements for haste or Gruul Turf for mana. Scapeshift is the alternate win plan, sacrificing lands for a lethal package, and Cultivator Colossus serves as a large trampling body.

Brandon Kreines, game producer on Magic: The Gathering at Wizards of the Coast, said the new Foundations Commander Decks are "definitely intended to be an evergreen offering." Kreines said Wizards cannot commit to specifics, but if players are as excited about the decks as Wizards is, they should expect reprints so the decks can serve as an introduction point into Commander. Wizards has not committed to specifics on additional printings, and no reprint date, quantity or schedule is given.

The Foundations Commander line is reportedly five mono-colored preconstructed decks, and none of them contain new cards. Demand has pushed up prices. They have just begun to come back closer to MSRP, but markups remain across the board, and some decks have been marked up to over double what they should cost. The mono-green deck, Tramplesaurus Rex, is described as usually still hard to find. A reprint of the Warhammer 40K Commander decks is also mentioned as being in the works.

Landing Party reportedly holds the most reprint value of the four Star Trek Commander precons, at $143.76 across 54 reprints, ahead of We are the Borg at $120.76. Klingon Fury follows at $97.47, and Federation Fleet is last at $83.75. Top single reprints include Exploration at $32, Morphic Pool at $28.00 and Unwinding Clock at $21.00.

The four decks are two Federation decks (Landing Party and Federation Fleet), one Klingon deck (Klingon Fury) and one Borg deck (We are the Borg). All are Universes Beyond products with many original cards, and across all four there are only ten reprinted creatures in total.

Landing Party has 54 reprints (26 non-land, 28 land). Their combined value is $143.76 ($110.42 non-land, $33.34 land), averaging $2.66 each. Its most valuable reprints are Exploration at $32, Sea of Clouds at $20.00, Guardian Project at $14, Ancient Greenwarden at $9.97 and Heroic Intervention at $9.82.

A Draftsim op-ed argues that Magic's 3-mana mana rocks are enjoying a renaissance, because newer Manalith variants come with extra abilities. The piece is opinion, not a Wizards of the Coast announcement, but it doubles as a shopping list for Commander and Limited players.

The author's starting point is power creep. In Commander, 2-mana rocks such as Talismans and Arcane Signet tap for one mana at a lower cost, which leaves vanilla 3-mana rocks looking dated.

The examples named as having fallen behind:

• Manalith
• Chromatic Lantern
• Commander's Sphere, a 3-mana rock that can be sacrificed to draw a card, which the author cuts from precon upgrade guides

Token variety in the Star Trek set for Magic: The Gathering goes well beyond the usual: there are 27 different full-art tokens and 54 art cards, divided among Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, Commander decks and Scene Boxes. Wizards of the Coast has now laid out where each token and art card turns up, ahead of the November 13, 2026 release.

You can preorder at local game stores, TCGplayer, Amazon, and any other shop that carries Magic. Retail prices are not announced yet.

A single non-foil double-sided token comes in every Play Booster. The 27 full-art tokens are paired up in different combinations across those double-sided pieces.

The Halloween episode of Magic: The Gathering's Commander Clash Season 20 Episode 24 is a creature-type brawl: four decks, each 100% built around one creature type, which makes it a handy template for anyone building a tribal Commander deck.

The four types are Zombies, Vampires, Demons and Spirits. The decks are credited to Crim, Morgan, Tomer and Phil, one deck each.

The constraint is stricter than "play a tribe". Every nonland card in a deck has to refer to that deck's creature type.

• Zombies
• Vampires
• Demons
• Spirits

That leaves little room for generic staples, so each list has to find its power inside its own type.

TCGKing's take: a rule that bans off-theme goodstuff makes this a better test of what each tribe can do alone than a standard pod, and a more useful reference if you want to brew a tribal deck yourself.

A cheap Mono White artifact build is turning heads in Magic: The Gathering's Pauper format. Metalcraft Aggro, according to the author who wrote it up, costs barely 60-70 dollars and is winning events.

This roundup also covers Upstate NY Pauper Open IV in Rochester, NY, plus a look at a week of MTGO Pauper Challenges.

The archetype is a Mono White aggro variant that has surfaced over the past few months. It packs plenty of artifacts that switch on Metalcraft or Convoke.

The first builds carried a green splash for Winding Way. Cheap bodies such as Ornithopter and Phyrexian Walker made up the early roster, and the game plan was to go wide with Leonardo, Big Brother.

A Pioneer Izzet Unbreakable Formula combo list now has a full 60-card breakdown, and it makes room for Jace Beleren, Theorist from Reality Fracture. The deck is Izzet (blue-red) and is described as a combo deck.

The column gives the full main deck and the 15-card sideboard, then walks through the combo plan.

Unbreakable Formula is a sorcery that destroys artifacts and creatures, then puts same-type cards from the library onto the battlefield. Its strength is that it can target X permanents.

The plan is to destroy your own creatures or artifacts, often tokens, so the sorcery puts creatures with mana value 7 or more onto the battlefield. Atraxa, Grand Unifier is the example named.

Amazon has cut the Magic: The Gathering Hobbit Play Booster box (30 packs) by 33%, to $139.99, and for anyone who skipped it at launch, that is the number to know.

The box carries an MSRP of $207.95. At the new price, each pack works out to $4.66.

IGN says Play Booster packs usually cost almost $7 each. It describes $139.99 as the lowest price it has seen for this box since launch.

Each box holds 30 packs. A pack contains a traditional foil and up to three Rare cards, and alternate art cards are possible.

Every Play Booster also includes one box-topper promo card. These include reprints from the Lord of the Rings set and full-art cards from the Hobbit set.

The Star Trek Magic: The Gathering Collector Booster box went from $495.34 on October 28 to $576.02 on October 29 on TCGPlayer, and sales exploded alongside it. Anyone who wanted a box at the earlier price just got a lesson in timing.

Daily sales went from 63 boxes on October 28 to 565 on October 29, a 796% increase, according to TCGPlayer figures. Sales had been fairly steady in the weeks before that, per TheGamer.

The jump came after news of the death of Patrick Stewart. TheGamer says it cannot confirm that as the specific cause, but notes that nothing else of note happened that day.

The link makes sense on the product side. Signed Jean-Luc Picard cards, hand-signed by Stewart, can only be found in Star Trek Magic: The Gathering Collector Boosters.

The official Magic: The Gathering Japan site has published a Commander column with a blunt message for newer pods: you will lose, so learn to enjoy it. "Enjoy Losing! How to Live with the Commander Format" is the fourth installment of the series 'Ittetsu's Commander Recommendations', written by Ittetsu (@ittetu_), a member of the Commander Format Committee.

The argument rests on arithmetic the column spells out. Commander is a four-player game, so the baseline win rate is 25%. The author adds that the format has almost no luck-based wins and that beginners rarely get wins.

He contrasts it with Standard, where up to 3 games fit in 50 minutes. Fewer games fit into a day of Commander, so a player at an all-day event such as Commander Fest can go without a win.

A Bant (white-blue-green) Ms. Bumbleflower Commander deck is the subject of a Draftsim guide, which rates it a low Bracket 3 list with no Game Changers, no infinite combos, and only minimal upgrades.

The commander is illustrated by Marta Nael. Ms. Bumbleflower owns an inn in Three Tree City in Bloomburrow and is known for her "never-ending stew", per MTGwiki as cited by Draftsim.

The plan is group hug effects, card draw, and profiting when opponents draw cards. Ms. Bumbleflower turns spell casting into pumps, group hug, and card draw.

The author places the list between Bracket 2 and Bracket 3 and says it is not meant to be competitive. That makes it a pod-friendly pick rather than a tuned one.

Rush Duel's RD/KP27 set reportedly gets a removal Spell: Mad Rare Heart (RD/KP27-JP053), a Normal Spell that sends one card from the opponent's field to the bottom of its owner's Deck. It has a catch.

Activation is only possible when your opponent has a face-up Level 6 monster on their side. With that requirement satisfied, you pick 1 card from the opponent's field and put it at the bottom of the Deck belonging to its owner.

The target is any 1 card on the opponent's field, not specifically the Level 6 monster.

Once the effect has been activated, the following restrictions stay in force through the end of the turn:

• You cannot Special Summon.
• Monsters cannot declare attacks for you, with the lone exception of DARK monsters whose original DEF is 1100.

Rush Duel players have a lottery to enter and a Secret Rare to chase: the Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel Galaxy Cup 2026 [Team Battle] Aichi Qualifier is set for Sunday December 27, 2026 at Nagoya Convention Hall, and Konami has published the registration window, prizes and rules.

Only 96 teams (288 players) get in, so the lottery is the real first round.

Entry is by advance application and lottery through the free official support app 'Yu-Gi-Oh! Neuron'.

• Applications: Friday November 6, 2026 12:00 to Monday November 23, 2026 (national holiday) 23:59
• Lottery results: Wednesday December 2, 2026

Teams may apply to several qualifier venues, and also to the Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG Japan Championship 2026 [Team Battle] Aichi Qualifier on Saturday December 26.

Konami has announced the Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel Galaxy Cup 2026 [Team Battle] Fukuoka Qualifier for Sunday January 17, 2027, a Japan event where three-player teams chase a finals berth and Dark Knight Gaia in Secret Rare SPECIAL RED Ver. Entry is by lottery, and the application window opens on November 27, 2026.

The top 3 teams win the right to enter the finals plus Dark Knight Gaia in Secret Rare SPECIAL RED Ver., which is a notable prize for a qualifier. The Rush Duel line also has fresh news on the TCGKing calendar, including Mad Rare Rappid's reported Over-Rush Rare art in RD/KP27.

The card list for EXTRA BOOSTER -ONE PIECE Heroines Edition vol.2- [EB-05] is live on the official Asia English One Piece Card Game site, and it includes Red support cards plus a Green/Yellow Wisdom Leader built around Life.

A Rules Q&A (entries Q 1424 to Q 1444) is dated October 30, 2026.

The Red/Blue Leader has Life 4, the Slash attribute, Power 5000, and the Alabasta type. Once per turn, it can trash 1 card from hand instead of a Character with base cost 4 or more being K.O.'d.

Its [Activate: Main] rests the Leader to give an opponent's Character −2000 power, then grants [Rush] to one of your Characters without a [When Attacking] effect.

The ONE BATTLE CUP at Uniari Tour 26 in Fukuoka is set for Saturday December 12, 2026, and it is a two-title affair: only Re:ZERO and BLEACH Thousand-Year Blood War decks are eligible. Entry requires pre-registration in the BANDAI TCG+ app.

• Event date: Saturday December 12, 2026
• Application period: Friday November 6 – Sunday November 22, 2026, via BANDAI TCG+
• Reception: 11:00–14:00

BANDAI TCG+ also handles day-of check-in and result registration. Event info shows up once the game title is set to Union Arena.

The UNION ARENA RARE BATTLE 2026 December event is now on the official North American events page, and it is a Re:ZERO affair: everyone plays decks from the same title, and the UNION RARE Card prize can only be won here. It runs December 4, 2026 to January 1, 2027.

A month-long window means store schedules will vary, and some stores will not hold the event at all. Check your local shop before planning a trip.

• Format: ONE Battle Rule, with all participants using decks from the same title
• Title: Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-
• Dates: December 4, 2026 to January 1, 2027

All players must apply on TCG+ before the event, and applications start November 11, 2026.

The UNION RARE STRUGGLE BATTLE 22nd Season for Union Arena is the only place to win its "UNION RARE" card, and the Asia (English) page sets the event period at December 08, 2026 – February 07, 2027.

The Japan page gives a different window: Tuesday December 1, 2026 – Sunday January 31, 2027. The reason for the mismatch is not given in the announcement.

The tournament is a Swiss draw played under the ONE BATTLE RULE, and only the title designated for that tournament may be used.

Four titles are eligible, and each host store offers one of them:

• Steins;Gate
• Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World-
• Series
• D.Gray-man

The Japanese Union Arena scene gets a team-format route to the finals: Union Arena Tour 26 in Fukuoka runs on Saturday December 12, 2026 and includes a CHAMPIONSHIP26-27 qualifier played by teams of three. Entry is advance application only, and it opens on October 30, 2026.

The venue is the West Japan General Exhibition Center, Annex Hall, in Fukuoka. Card Labo organizes the casual tour, and the qualifier is the competitive part of it, aiming at advancement to JAPAN FINAL.

• Application: October 30, 2026 to November 15, 2026, through BANDAI TCG+ only
• Check-in on the day: 8:30 to 9:30
• Region: the qualifier applies Region 1: Japan, so players need their own ID issued there
• A team representative applies first and gets a team ID; teammates enter it in BANDAI TCG+ to finish registration

The second 100 Girlfriends booster for Union Arena, Vol.2, has a February 26, 2027 release date, and it brings two new card colors plus voice-cast autograph cards with a 17-person cast lineup. The set is based on the TV anime 'The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, Really Love You'.

The suggested retail price is 385 yen tax included (about $2.40).

• 8 cards per pack
• 16 packs per box
• Parallel cards are inserted randomly

The lineup introduces Blue and Red as new card colors.

Card counts by rarity:

• SR (Super Rare): 17 types
• R (Rare): 17 types
• U (Uncommon): 32 types
• C (Common): 34 types
• AP (Action Point): 17 types

The official Union Arena North America site has posted the card list for UEX08BT/BLC-4, a BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War set, so players can start going through the cards.

The list runs from UEX08BT/BLC-4-001 to UEX08BT/BLC-4-081 for regular cards. It adds UEX08BT/BLC-4-AP01 to AP06 for Action Point Cards.

The six AP cards all share one name, "Action Point Card (BLEACH: Thousand-Year Blood War)", so the difference is in the numbering.

TCGKing's take: with 81 numbered cards and no rarities shown, this is a checklist, not a chase guide. Hold off on guessing which versions matter until the site says more.

Several characters appear in multiple slots:

The parallel chase for EX17BT, the Re:ZERO -Starting Life in Another World- product for Union Arena, is now mapped out: the official Japanese site lists 35 parallel cards for products released on October 30, so collectors know which cards to hunt for on release day.

The page is titled "Parallel Cards for the products released on October 30" and filters the card list by series 570217. All the parallels use Re:ZERO numbering, with the prefixes EX17BT/REZ-1 and EX17BT/REZ-2.

Rem is the most represented character, with five parallels. Emilia has three, Ram and Beatrice two each.

• Rem: EX17BT/REZ-2-008, REZ-2-009, REZ-2-010, REZ-2-018, and REZ-2-021 "Natsuki Subaru's Attendant, Rem"
• Ram: EX17BT/REZ-2-005 and REZ-2-006
• Emilia: EX17BT/REZ-2-011, REZ-2-028, and REZ-2-058
• Beatrice: EX17BT/REZ-2-024 and REZ-2-025

2026 Bowman Football Sapphire Edition (also called 2026 Bowman Chrome Sapphire) was reportedly released on October 29, 2026, and the checklist is already out. For rookie hunters, the headline names are Fernando Mendoza and Arch Manning, who sit in the NFL rookie and college prospect runs respectively.

Bowman Football's NFL rookies and college prospects get a Sapphire chromium treatment in this release. Topps lists a standalone Sapphire checklist in its checklist directory.

The published checklist has three base groups:

• 100 NFL veterans
• 100 NFL rookies
• A 201-card Chrome Prospect sequence of college players

Key card numbers reported so far:

Brewers collectors get a ready-made champions keepsake as Topps is reportedly putting out a 15-card Topps Now World Series set, and the chase card is a Diamond Parallel numbered to 2 for each player, with one copy going to the player himself.

For the first time in franchise history, the Brewers have won the World Series. The cards reportedly went on sale on October 28, the night the title was clinched, and the product page lists availability through November 4, 2026.

Every player featured in the 2026 World Series Champions Team Set gets a companion card in the Diamond Parallel. Of the 2 copies made, one is placed inside a team set.

Players have to apply in advance through the TCG+ app, with applications opening November 20, 2026.

Gundam Card Game players in Japan get a new sleeve option: Official Sleeves EX 04 [EVX14] from BANDAI CARD GAMES is set for release on January 9, 2027, a Saturday. It is a Japanese listing, and each set contains 70 sleeves.

The suggested retail price is ¥990 including tax (about $6.30).

The product comes in 2 designs:

• 'Boy and Gundam', the title of the first design
• Qubeley, the second design

The Japanese product page also carries a 'Metaverse Lobby' label.

The sleeves land on the same day as the Official Card Box Set EX 01 [EVX16], which has two variants and was listed on the Traditional Chinese site. Two accessory products arriving together make January 9, 2027 an accessories day.

The Gundam Card Game accessory line gets a new entry: Official Card Box Set EX 01 [EVX16] is listed for Saturday January 9, 2027, and every set comes with an EX Energy card, which is the part collectors will care about. The listing appears on the Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) official site from BANDAI CARD GAMES.

The product comes in 2 variants in total. They are named "The Boy and Gundam" (a gloss of the Chinese title) and a second variant whose Chinese-language name is 丘貝雷; no confirmed romanisation of that name is given.

Each set contains the same three items:

• 1 deck case
• 1 EX Energy card
• 1 divider

The release date is January 9, 2027, according to the Traditional Chinese (Taiwan) site. Availability in other regions is not announced yet.
