Pokémon's Card Universe site turns 25,000+ card designs into planets
Everyone's Pokémon Card Universe, a 30th anniversary site, builds an interactive map of real TCG cards from up to ten picks. No officially translated version appears to exist yet.
Pokémon has reportedly launched Everyone's Pokémon Card Universe, a website tied to the 30th anniversary celebrations. It lets fans build an interactive collection of real Pokémon TCG cards from their own choices.
No officially translated version of the site appears to exist yet.
How the site works
The site draws on a database of more than 25,000 real-life Pokémon TCG card designs.
The homepage has a "create a universe" button with four starting options: atmosphere, your favorite, cards, or a deck. Users can pick up to ten cards, Pokémon, decks or vibes as the base of their universe.
After the user clicks the button, a short cinematic plays and the cards appear. They then drift around like planets in space, forming an interactive collection of real cards that match the chosen Pokémon, vibes, cards or decks.
A universe can be shared with other fans. A new one can be built from a different category through the menu at the top right.
Limits found so far
There does not appear to be an official translation yet, and searching for cards by their English Pokémon names does not seem to work.
The Pokémon search is split by region, while the card search is not.
There also does not appear to be a way to fill a universe with only the cards the user picks.
Part of a busy anniversary run
The site joins other 30th anniversary projects TCGKing has covered, including a 24-hour stream on the Pokémon Card Channel starting October 20 and Santa Cruz x Pokémon TCG skateboard decks.
What is still unknown
The exact launch date of the site is not stated. It is not stated whether the site will be available for a limited time only; the source author speculates that it might be, but this is unconfirmed.
What it means for players and collectors
- There does not appear to be an official translation yet, and searching for cards by English Pokémon names does not seem to work.
- The card search is not split by region, unlike the Pokémon search.
- Universes can be shared, so collectors can compare their picks with other fans.
