TCG briefs for October 29, 2026

Delta Reign gets its first in-store tournament: the Pokémon TCG: Mega Evolution – Delta Reign New Expansion Battle runs at Gym Shops from 6 November 2026 until 6 December 2026, depending on the shop, and your entry ticket is a booster pack that also feeds your deck.

Check the Event Locator for participating shops and their dates.

To get in, buy one Mega Evolution – Delta Reign Booster Pack from the participating shop. No cash amount is stated.

The deck rules are short:

• Standard regulations, 60-card deck, 6 Prize Cards
• At least 4 Pokémon cards from Delta Reign
• Pre-registration, with walk-in registration also available

The four-card minimum keeps new cards on the table. TCGKing's take: a rare case of an entry fee that doubles as a deckbuilding supply.

Vintage Championship players finally get a $5,000 top prize worth chasing: Magic: The Gathering's Eternal Weekend North America runs October 29 – November 1, 2026 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, with a framed oversized Treasure Cruise on metal for the winner too. It is the first of three Vintage Championships events, according to reports of Wizards of the Coast's announcement.

Pastimes hosts the weekend. Each Eternal Weekend is headlined by the Legacy and Vintage Championships, with side events and on-demand tournaments around them.

• Saturday: Vintage Championships main event, starting at 9:00 AM EST, with up to 8 Swiss rounds depending on attendance.
• Sunday: Top 8 at 9:00 AM EST.

Draftsim has put the original-series crew of the Magic: The Gathering Star Trek set in order, and its author's pick for the best card is Sulu, Space Swashbuckler. The list covers ten cards across Kirk, Spock, Uhura, Sulu, Chekov, Scotty and McCoy.

The author calls the order arbitrary opinion, so treat it as a conversation starter and not a tier list.

The ranking, from best to worst:

1. Sulu, Space Swashbuckler
2. Spock, Always Your Friend
3. Scotty, Miracle Worker
4. Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy
5. Captain James T. Kirk
6. Dr. McCoy, Surly Surgeon
7. Nyota Uhura, Communications
8. Mr. Spock, Science Officer
9. Kirk, Commanding Officer
10. Ensign Pavel Chekov

Q, Stacking the Deck is reportedly the most built commander from the Magic: The Gathering Star Trek set (TRK/TRC) on EDHREC, according to Draftsim. The site credits memes for the popularity, not raw power.

Q is a mono-red Commander card. When it enters the battlefield, it exiles a random card from the top of its controller's library. That card can be cast from exile if you exile a card from hand as an additional cost.

Q also shuffles the deck, so setups that rely on library order are unreliable.

The joke build runs Q with 98 Mountains and one other card. Redditor -theslaw- proposed Glaring Fleshraker for that slot.

The clock, as laid out:

A Sultai Superior Reanimate list, built around Superior Spider-Man, has earned a Champions Cup Final slot in Standard, and a Japanese column walks through all 75 cards. If you want a reanimator deck that turns a four-mana creature into a copy of a seven-drop, this is the blueprint.

The Champions Cup Final is described as the gateway event leading to the Pro Tour, and this list qualified through a Premium Qualifier. The pilot's name, the record and the exact qualifier are not announced yet.

One note on timing: the column says Superior Spider-Man has been in Standard for about 1 year, so this is a mature card finding a new home rather than a brand-new brew.

TheGamer refreshed its 21-commander Jeskai (White/Blue/Red) ranking on October 29, 2026, so anyone building around spells, Planeswalkers, or a table-wide gift economy gets a current shortlist. The excerpt covers entries 21 to 12. The update came after over ten sets had released since the last revisit.

This is a media ranking, not a Wizards of the Coast announcement, so treat the order as one outlet's opinion.

• No. 21, Sevinne, the Chronoclasm: this five-mana 2/2 Human Wizard is immune to damage. Once per turn, the first instant or sorcery its controller casts from the graveyard gets copied, which makes it a natural fit with Flashback.
• No. 20, Shu Yun, the Silent Tempest: a three-mana 3/2 carrying prowess. A Boros hybrid cost sits in its triggered ability, and that is what qualifies it as a Jeskai commander. Whenever you cast a noncreature spell, you can spend two mana so a creature gains double strike until end of turn.
• No. 18, Vadrok, Apex of Thunder: for three mana you get a 3/3 with flying and first strike, and its mutate cost is four mana. Every time it mutates, you can cast a noncreature spell with mana value three or less from your graveyard at no cost.
• No. 17, Gavi, Nest Warden: this five-mana 2/5 lets the first card you would cycle each turn be cycled for free. Drawing your second card in a turn also produces a 2/2 dinosaur cat token.

A 2025 Bowman Garbage Pail Kids NBA Superfractor of Cooper Flagg, graded CGC Authentic, reportedly sold for $288,000 on Aug. 28, 2026. That makes it the top GPK insert sale in a CardLadder-credited ranking, and it shows how far a sticker-parody insert can travel when the player is the No. 1 pick.

The remaining four cards sit between $26,975 and $35,000, and all of them are baseball players.

• $288,000: 2025 Bowman GPK NBA Superfractor Cooper Flagg, CGC Authentic, Aug. 28, 2026
• $35,000: 2026 Bowman Chrome GPK Black Autograph /10 Shohei Ohtani (Black Refractor, signed, numbered to ten), Sep 24, 2026
• $28,200: 2025 Bowman Chrome GPK Superfractor Paul Skenes, PSA 9, Jul 24, 2026
• $27,600: 2026 Bowman Chrome GPK Superfractor Munetaka Murakami, PSA 10, Oct 23, 2026
• $26,975: 2025 Bowman Chrome GPK Superfractor Aaron Judge, PSA 9, May 9, 2026

Mark Cuban has reportedly bought the 1-of-1 rookie patch autograph (RPA) of Fernando Mendoza from 2026 Topps Flagship Football, a card whose price tag nobody has disclosed. The former Dallas Mavericks owner is the reported buyer of what is the only copy of Mendoza's Flagship RPA.

Per social media outlets, the collector who pulled the card emailed Cuban directly to ask whether he was interested. Cuban then checked with his son Jake, a sports card collector, before buying.

According to reports, Jake told his father that if Fernando turns out to be a bust, Cuban would be a fool to have paid, but that if Fernando becomes the great player people expect, the purchase would look like a bargain.
