Token variety in the Star Trek set for Magic: The Gathering goes well beyond the usual: there are 27 different full-art tokens and 54 art cards, divided among Play Boosters, Collector Boosters, Commander decks and Scene Boxes. Wizards of the Coast has now laid out where each token and art card turns up, ahead of the November 13, 2026 release.

You can preorder at local game stores, TCGplayer, Amazon, and any other shop that carries Magic. Retail prices are not announced yet.

Magic Star Trek Token Breakdown by Product

A single non-foil double-sided token comes in every Play Booster. The 27 full-art tokens are paired up in different combinations across those double-sided pieces.

The art variety is uneven by type:

  • 10 Officer tokens
  • 3 Klingon Warrior tokens
  • 2 Borg tokens
  • 2 Clue tokens

Every Star Trek Commander deck ships with 10 double-sided tokens, combining tokens that also appear in Play Boosters with ones made specifically for the Commander decks. They are non-foil in standard decks.

Collector's Edition Commander decks use tokens that are surge foil on one face and non-foil on the other. This is the only place to get surge foil tokens.

Star Trek Collector Booster Art Cards and Scene Boxes

Inside a Collector Booster you get either a traditional foil double-sided token or an art card. The foil token can be any full-art token from Play Boosters or Commander decks.

There are 54 different art cards, and a given one shows up in 35% of Collector Boosters. About 5% of Collector Boosters contain an art card with a gold-stamped artist signature or Planeswalker symbol, using the same art as the unstamped versions.

Scene Boxes work differently. Each contains 6 art cards that combine to depict one moment from Star Trek; these never appear in Collector Boosters and have neither the signature nor the Planeswalker symbol.

TCGKing's take: the stamped art cards and the Collector's Edition surge foil tokens are the pieces with a clearly limited route in, so those are the ones completionists should map out first.

Separately, TCGPlayer data shows the Collector Booster box rising from $495.34 to $576.02 in a day.

Star Trek Prerelease Pack and Sealed Deck Advice

Prerelease events kick off on November 6, 2026 at local game stores worldwide.

A Prerelease Pack includes:

  • 6 Star Trek Play Boosters
  • 1 traditional foil promo card (not named in the announcement)
  • 1 deck box
  • 1 spindown die

Each player assembles a 40-card sealed deck from the contents of the pack plus as many basic lands as they like. Events are casual and friendly.

The suggested approach is to play two colors, include at least five removal spells, and run 17 lands. Suggested curve:

  • 1 mana: 1–2 cards
  • 2 mana: 7–8
  • 3 mana: 5–6
  • 4 mana: 3–4
  • 5 mana: 2–3
  • 6 mana: 0–1

The Borg and Spacecraft make for more threatening artifacts than usual, so artifact removal is worth more here.

Star Trek Draft Archetypes

Every color pair gets its own draft archetype along with two multicolor uncommon signpost cards, adding up to ten archetypes.

Six are listed:

  • White-Blue: Spacecraft and Artificers
  • Blue-Black: Dilemma Control
  • Black-Red: Klingons and Dies
  • Red-Green: Away Team Landfall
  • Green-White: Doctors and Counters
  • White-Black: Borg Artifact Creatures (Collective)

The set also includes a Commander deck built around Captain Benjamin Sisko. See the Commander lineup for more.

What is still unknown

  • Retail prices for the Star Trek products
  • The name of the Prerelease promo card
  • The remaining four draft archetypes
