TCG briefs for October 17, 2026

Wizards of the Coast has announced Secret Lair Countdown Kit: Marvel's History of Heroes, a 30-card Magic: The Gathering collection that walks through eras and moments from the history of the Marvel Universe. It launches on November 2, 2026, costs $199.99 USD, and is sold only on MagicSecretLair.com.

Two of the cards are not exclusive in the long run: Doctor Strange, Master of Magic and Beta Ray Bill are uncommons from the main set of Magic: The Gathering | Marvel: Darkhold Destiny, and the kit puts them in players' hands ahead of the set's usual availability.

Each copy holds 30 individually packaged Magic cards. Every card stands for an era or moment from the history of the Marvel Universe.

GENESYS is a deck-building ruleset for Yu-Gi-Oh! OCG that uses a point budget instead of the Limit Regulation of the Master Rule, and events using the format are now being offered. Duelist Festival will run GENESYS-format events on Monday November 23, 2026, a national holiday in Japan.

GENESYS keeps the Master Rule as its base but changes four things: there is no Limit Regulation, decks are built within a point cap, Pendulum and Link Monsters are excluded, and the Extra Monster Zone and Pendulum Zone are not used.

There are no Forbidden, Limited, or Semi-Limited cards in the format. Cards whose text says they cannot be used in official duels remain unusable.

The October Yu-Gi-Oh! TCG Forbidden & Limited List, Part 1, reportedly takes effect Monday October 19, 2026. Six cards move to Forbidden and two are listed as Limited.

The list was revealed on the YCS Houston 2026 stream. YCS stands for Yu-Gi-Oh! Championship Series.

The six cards moving to Forbidden are Amorphage Sloth, Amorphage Goliath, Aerial Eater, Albion the Branded Dragon, Zenna's Deceiving Doll Maidens, and Called By the Grave.

The two Limited entries are Droll & Lock Bird and Perfectron Hydradrive Dragon.

Perfectron Hydradrive Dragon is an OCG-only card, yet it is being released at Limited in the TCG. That has not happened since Sixth Sense appeared on the October 2013 Forbidden & Limited list.

The One Piece Card Game has a live-action tie-in set on its English catalog. Premium Card Collection -Live Action Edition vol.2 Straw Hat Crew- is listed for November 2026 at USD $20.00, and it is a Premium Bandai item.

The collection is a special card set made to celebrate the release of the live-action ONE PIECE Season 2. Each set holds 7 cards and 1 card booklet.

The catalog does not name any of the 7 cards, and it does not describe what the booklet contains. Both are still unannounced.

The listed price is USD $20.00. The release is placed in November 2026, but no exact day is given.

Because this is a Premium Bandai item, buyers are directed to apply through the Premium Bandai page for their own region. The catalog does not say which regional pages will carry the set, when applications open or close, or whether a purchase limit applies.

EXTRA BOOSTER -ONE PIECE HEROINES EDITION vol.2- [EB-05] is available on October 30, 2026, at USD $4.99 per pack. It is the second Extra Booster in the One Piece Card Game built around the series' heroines.

The headline cards are a new Leader, "Nico Robin", and an exclusive alt-art card illustrated by Kentaro Yabuki, creator of To Love-Ru. Bandai's official product page also lists 6 types of SP cards with special designs.

EB-05 contains 75+2 types of cards in total. Fan-favorite heroines return with illustrations in a variety of styles, and the set includes many brand-new cards.

On the gameplay side, the set features a variety of Wisdom attribute Character cards. They sit alongside the new Nico Robin Leader.

Bandai's One Piece Card Game has a Red/Blue starter deck on the calendar. Starter Deck -The Desert Princess and the Pirates- [ST-37] is listed for release on December 18, 2026, and the English product page prices it at USD $16.99.

The deck is built around Straw Hat Crew characters and figures from the Kingdom of Alabasta, with Luffy named in the product pitch. Its stated play style is to overwhelm the opponent with a flurry of attacks.

ST-37 contains one ready-to-play constructed deck of 51 cards, plus 10 DON!! cards and 1 playsheet.

The listed rarity breakdown is 1 Leader card, 14 Common cards, and 2 Super Rare cards.

The two official pages disagree on Bonus Packs. The English page lists 1 Bonus Pack of 3 cards. The French page lists 2 Bonus Packs of 3 cards, with 14 card types in total.

Starter Deck -Baroque Works- [ST-38] is a Blue/Black One Piece Card Game deck built around members of Baroque Works. It is listed for release on December 18, 2026 on the English and French official sites, and on Saturday December 19, 2026 on the Japanese site.

The English page lists the deck at USD $16.99, and the Japanese page lists it at 1,320 yen (tax included). A price for France is not announced yet.

The Blue/Black deck is described as one that cycles through the player's hand while KOing the opponent's characters. The product is pitched as a must-have for Baroque Works fans, and the Japanese page abbreviates the group as "B・W".

ST-38 is a ready-to-play constructed deck of 51 cards, plus 10 DON!! cards and 1 playsheet.

Union Arena is getting a D.Gray-man booster pack on November 27, 2026. UNION ARENA BOOSTER PACK D.Gray-man [UA58BT] is built around the manga, with Allen Walker, Yu Kanda, Lenalee Lee, and Lavi in the lineup. The manga's creator, Katsura Hoshino, is involved in the set.

Hoshino has contributed in several ways. Hoshino provided a special commemorative illustration for the set and a congratulatory message for the release. The product also carries brand-new illustrations drawn exclusively for it by Hoshino.

A foil-stamped signature card featuring Hoshino will be included in the product. Further details on that card will come at a later date, and nothing else about it has been announced yet.

Union Arena's Umamusume: Pretty Derby Starter Deck is set for release on Friday December 11, 2026, with a manufacturer's suggested retail price of 1,650 yen (tax included). It is a ready-to-play product built around a 50-card constructed deck and 3 Action Point cards.

A bundled Promotion R pack stands out, because its cards are available only in this Starter Deck.

Each Starter Deck contains one pre-built deck of 50 cards, 3 Action Point cards, 1 play sheet, and 1 Promotion R pack.

The Promotion R pack holds 4 new text cards of rarity R, and the pack covers 4 text types in total, with 1 of each. According to the official product page, the 2 color attributes belong to the 50-card deck itself.

BANDAI CARD GAMES Fest 26-27 in TOKYO (BCG Fest 26-27 in TOKYO) is confirmed for Saturday February 20 – Sunday February 21, 2027. Admission is free, and the attendance commemorative item is the UAPR/UPD-AP01 Action Point Card (Umamusume: Pretty Derby).

The event takes place at the TOC Exhibition Hall, 7-22-17 Nishi-Gotanda, Shinagawa, Tokyo (postal code 141-0031).

The dates and venues differ by title, so the February 20–21, 2027 weekend and the Shinagawa venue should not be assumed to apply to every game in the Bandai lineup.

The two main events are "3on3 in BCGFest" and "ONE BATTLE CUP in BCGFest." A side event, "Matching Battle in BCGFest," is also listed.
