TCG briefs for October 19, 2026

Round 3 of the 2026-27 Regional Championship Qualifiers (RCQs) for Magic: The Gathering runs from December 11, 2026 to March 28, 2027. Every participant receives a borderless non-foil Strategic Betrayal promo, and top finishers earn an Archenemy's Charm promo.

Wizards of the Coast also laid out the Regional Championships that these qualifiers feed, including the Modern events for Pro Tour Noctis and the Standard events for the Pro Tour at MagicCon: Tokyo, with organizers and cities for each region.

At Wizards Play Network (WPN) stores, round 3 RCQs are played in Standard constructed or Sealed Deck. Special qualifier events held at large venues, such as hotel ballrooms or convention centers, may use other constructed formats.

Magic: The Gathering's most famous artifacts have turned into stationery. Ferris Wheel Press, a Canadian stationery brand known for its shimmering fountain pen inks, is crowdfunding the Magic: The Gathering: The Mox Ink & Writing Collection on Kickstarter, and backers have already pushed it far past its target.

The collection is built around five Mox Inks, Pearl, Sapphire, Jet, Emerald and Ruby, each with its own coloured shimmer, plus a matching fountain pen for each colour. The names come straight from Magic history: Mox Pearl, Mox Sapphire, Mox Jet, Mox Ruby and Mox Emerald are the five mana artifacts of the original 1993 sets and part of the Power Nine, today among the most expensive cards in the game. Each ink colour matches the colour of mana its Mox produces, from white Pearl to green Emerald.

A new DARK Warrior deck is taking shape for Yu-Gi-Oh! Rush Duel in Japan. Ten cards from RD/KP27, reported through translations of the official Japanese reveals, tell the story of a cursed land and its fallen king, Zeil, and give him a Level 10 body with 3500 ATK.

Zeil the King of the Hollowed Grounds is a Union Fusion: instead of a Fusion Spell, its three materials, Doomed by the Blackblight plus two Level 1 Union monsters, are placed face-up from the field on the bottom of the Deck. While Zeil is on the field, your face-up DARK Warriors cannot be destroyed by card effects and deal piercing damage when they attack.

The two Unions double as equipment. The Royal Sword of Zeil turns into an Equip Spell that gives a DARK Warrior 1000 ATK, while The Royal Crown of Zeil adds 500 DEF and stops the equipped monster from being bounced back to the hand, Deck or Extra Deck. Both count as The Legacy of Zeil once they reach the Graveyard.

CGC and JSA will accept submissions at GalaxyCon St. Louis on October 23–25, 2026. The venue is America's Center, located in St. Louis, Missouri.

Submissions are handled by the CGC Facilitator Agents of Slabs, which will accept items at its GalaxyCon St. Louis booth.

Video games and home video collectibles are accepted by Agents of Slabs for CGC, as are TCGs, sports cards, non-sports cards, comics, and magazines. Per CGC, the facilitator has spent several years working with comic books, with a background that covers customer service, retail sales, and witnessing signatures for the CGC Signature Series.

Drop-off is a short process. At the booth, a collector completes a submission form and then gives the items to a staff member. The submission is tagged, and the customer gets a copy of the completed form. After purchase, the customer receives email updates on the order from drop-off through return shipping.

Through its facilitator FGS Autographs, CGC is set to take card and memorabilia submissions at Collect-A-Con Dallas on October 24-25, 2026. JSA representatives will be on the floor too, offering on-site authentication of autographed items.

Describing itself as the nation's premier trading card and pop culture event, Collect-A-Con advertises over 800 vendor tables. Those tables span sports cards, TCGs, comic books, vintage toys, video games, and memorabilia. Celebrity guests are promised in person, among them anime and video game voice actors and musicians, though the announcement names nobody.

Held in San Mateo, California, at the San Mateo County Event Center, the East Bay Card Show on October 24-25, 2026 will have CGC and JSA taking submissions. CGC submissions are handled by its facilitator, FGS Autographs, and JSA will authenticate autographs on site.

FGS Autographs, a CGC Facilitator, accepts home video collectibles, video games, comics, and cards. FGS Autographs accepts all CGC submissions at its event booth.

FGS Autographs takes care of the paperwork, direct contact with CGC, convention drop-offs, and witnessing of signings on books in the CGC Signature Series. At the show, a CGC Facilitator and JSA staff will be available to field questions and describe autograph authentication and collectibles certification offerings.
